A Note from the Executive Director

By Gabriele Columbro

As we enter Q4, the FINOS community is working flat out to deliver on existing projects, propose new projects and promote collaboration between projects. From recent conversations at Boston Fintech Week to ongoing discussions around OSERA (Open Source Enterprise Resiliency Alliance), one theme is clear: open source is not just about code - it is essential to how financial institutions approach AI, data, security and enterprise risk.

We’re seeing this shift play out in the growing focus on AI governance, software supply chain resilience, shared standards and the infrastructure needed to move AI agents into trusted, production-ready workflows.

With OSFF New York just around the corner, and major work continuing across OSERA, the Common Domain Model (CDM), Fluxnova, CALM, FDC3, and so many more, Q4 is about using that momentum to deliver valuable solutions.

Let’s dive into what’s happening across FINOS to close out 2026.

Riding the Momentum into Q3

By Gabriele Columbro

If the first half of the year was about setting the stage, the second half is about proving the value of open source in financial services at scale. Coming off the massive success of OSFF London, it is clear that our community is not just growing; it is realizing tangible ROI. Financial institutions are increasingly turning to open collaboration to solve complex challenges, from AI governance to orchestration to seamless desktop interoperability.

We are thrilled to welcome Bank of America as our newest Platinum Member, reflecting a deepening commitment to our shared ecosystem. Across the board, projects like Fluxnova, FDC3, CALM, our AI Governance Framework (AIGF), and now OSERA are proving that the future of finance is open, secure, and highly efficient. The community is translating open collaboration into practical industry value, and the momentum is only accelerating.

Let’s dive into what’s happening across FINOS.

No, Your Subscription Didn’t Expire

By Gabriele Columbro

If you thought your email filters had finally won, think again.

It has been a while since our last FINOS community newsletter, but the inbox silence did not mean the community was quiet. Quite the opposite. Across FINOS, members, maintainers, contributors, and partners have been busy building the open source infrastructure that the financial services industry increasingly depends on.

A message from our Executive Director, Gabriele Columbro:

It’s hard to believe our last newsletter came on the heels of Deepseek shocking the technology and geopolitical landscape, and the global markets with it. In the era of agentic (and open source) AI, this is indeed seems like years ago. But our community is stepping up to the task: on the tech risk side, the AI Governance Framework is sailing towards its 1.0, while Common Cloud Controls accelerates its pace of releases as undeniably it has hit a huge pain point of the industry. The flywheels of adoption and contribution of FDC3 and CDM are spinning faster, as the industry realizes truly open APIs and data are not only the glue for interoperability but the fuel for the agentic future.
