A message from our Executive Director, Gabriele Columbro:
It’s hard to believe our last newsletter came on the heels of Deepseek shocking the technology and geopolitical landscape, and the global markets with it. In the era of agentic (and open source) AI, this is indeed seems like years ago. But our community is stepping up to the task: on the tech risk side, the AI Governance Framework is sailing towards its 1.0, while Common Cloud Controls accelerates its pace of releases as undeniably it has hit a huge pain point of the industry. The flywheels of adoption and contribution of FDC3 and CDM are spinning faster, as the industry realizes truly open APIs and data are not only the glue for interoperability but the fuel for the agentic future.
So with OSFF London just 3 weeks away, what’s in store for our movement? I have three words for you: ROI, ROI, ROI. As our strategic initiatives move up the stack being ever more connected to the topline and bottomline in every financial services constituentcy, and as open source is showing already it will play an even more critical role in AI than it did for software itself, our Governing Board has set out a very ambitious vision for our next horizon of growth. So, while we experience a continuous inbound of new projects seeking to join our neutrally governed landscape, our research team has been hard at work to measure and surface the value of our most established ones.
But my call to action is to get involved because we truly are at an inflection point that will define the future of our industry: pick a good first issue, join one of our meetings, fill out our annual State of Open Source in Financial Services survey, become an Ambassador.
The time is now and I look forward to seeing all of you in London.

Together, they’re playing a key role in advancing FINOS’ AI Governance Framework and Common Cloud Controls (CCC) — two of our most strategic initiatives for ensuring secure, open, and compliant innovation in regulated finance. Their leadership helps ensure these standards are built for the cloud era and ready for enterprise deployment.
