🛡️ OSERA: Intent to Form the Open Source Enterprise Resiliency Alliance

Critical infrastructure like finance runs on open source, but fixing vulnerabilities addresses only half the problem. In regulated environments, getting fixes into production—timely, at scale, and with evidence—is what delivers true operational resilience.

Following The Linux Foundation’s launch of Akrites, FINOS, alongside Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Moderne, Morgan Stanley, RBC, Sonatype, and TD, has announced the intent to form OSERA. This neutral, openly governed home will:

  • Mutualize open source backpatching on shared high-priority packages—a fix produced once, consumed by all.
  • Promote vendor-neutral, industry-wide remediation standards tailored for regulated frameworks.
  • Accelerate evidence-based, compliant consumption at scale, proving “patched, tested, deployed” without a manual fire drill.

The announcement follows a successful end-to-end pilot which tested four backpatched critical Java frameworks in banks’ environments with no change to CI tooling. As AI collapses vulnerability discovery from weeks to minutes, OSERA delivers secure open source in production, at scale—without the lock-in.
