Welcome to a special Open Source in Finance Forum (OSFF) edition of This Week at FINOS.
With so much moving pieces in the open source finance ecosystem right now, we are dedicating this week’s newsletter entirely to our two flagship events: OSFF Toronto (happening this week!) and OSFF London (June 25).
Here is everything you need to know:
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Open Source in Finance Forum Toronto is effectively at capacity! The energy for our return to Canada has been incredible, and we can't wait to see so many of you over the next two days.
While general session seating is packed, we still have a few seats remaining for our deep-dive workshops on Wednesday, April 15th. If you are attending OSFF Toronto and want to get hands-on, secure your spot in one of these two interactive sessions before they close:
Building and running an HPC Grid using cloud native services (Workshop)
OSS-related patent threat and associated patent risk mitigation in banking & financial services
This past Thursday, April 9th, we officially unveiled the 60+ session schedule for OSFF London (June 25). This year's program is our most robust yet, spanning seven distinct tracks that cover everything from FINOS Fluxnova and cloud-native platform engineering to interoperability and the culture of Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs).
But today, we want to put a special spotlight on one of our most anticipated rooms of the day: Track 3 – AI Governance, Risk & Security.
🔍 Track Spotlight: Why You Need to Be in the AI Governance Room Deploying AI in financial services isn’t just an engineering challenge; it’s a massive regulatory, legal, and security challenge. This track is purpose-built for the CISOs, enterprise architects, legal counsel, and risk leaders who have to actually secure and govern the AI their developers are building.
Whether you are a FINOS member mapping out your institution's AI strategy, or a non-member looking to understand how the biggest banks are protecting their IP, this track delivers unparalleled, vendor-neutral insights.
Highlights from Track 3 include:
From Open Data to Operations: Building AI Governance Infrastructure – Noel McLoughlin (TD Bank)
AI Regulation as an Architecture Problem: A top-down approach for designing a compliant architecture – Vicente Herrera & Alberto Rodríguez (ControlPlane)
Open Source, AI and Patents: Unifying a technology strategy that works for Finance – Mark Paulsen & John S Lee (TD Bank)
The FINOS AI Fund Panel – An exclusive look at how the FINOS CCC and the AI Governance Framework (AIGF) are bridging the gap.
Plus, rapid-fire lightning sessions on Spec-Driven Development (ING), Using CALM to Enforce Architecture (ArchRails), and fixing non-determinism risks in AI.
