*Moving from Conversational AI to Auditable, Deterministic Computation in Regulated Industries*

**What if critical business logic could be captured directly from domain experts via AI, formally verified as an auditable specification, and executed deterministically across any platform without vendor lock-in?**

Financial services systems are overwhelmingly defined by deep, complex business logic. In regulated institutions, critical calculations (from statutory interest rate caps to capital adequacy and liquidity metrics) demand absolute precision, auditability, and bi-temporal awareness. Generative AI makes code generation fast, but regulated environments cannot tolerate probabilistic drift, hallucinated calculations, or opaque, unverified black-box code. At the same time, relying on proprietary AI tools tied to specific cloud data platforms risks locking your bank’s core intellectual property into a single vendor's ecosystem.

Building on insights from OSFF London, this hands-on workshop demonstrates pairing conversational AI copilots with **FINOS Morphir** to turn human-readable domain intent into deterministic, platform-agnostic, machine-executable specifications.

Join Stephen Goldbaum (DataHub) and Attila Mihaly (Morgan Stanley) for an interactive session that bridges the gap between subject-matter experts and production runtimes. Attendees will experience an end-to-end progression: starting with intuitive, conversational rule capture using interactive agents, generating a formally verified Morphir specification, and inspecting the resulting execution flows and temporal effective dates in a visual data workbench.

# Workshop Description

This interactive workshop brings business domain specialists, quants, architects, and engineers together to solve the core challenge of reliable business logic in high-stakes environments. Rather than jumping straight into inscrutable multi-thousand-line regulatory specifications, the session follows a clear pedagogical progression:

1. **Conversational Extraction:** Use an LLM copilot to capture and disambiguate domain rules conversationally. We'll begin with an simpler policy rules and progress to more complex regulations.
2. **Deterministic Specification:** Translate captured logic directly into a precise, vendor-neutral Morphir Intermediate Representation (IR), treating business logic as an immutable mathematical contract rather than unverified imperative code.
3. **Visual Verification & Bi-Temporality:** Use an interactive dataflow harness to inspect calculation graphs, evaluate test datasets, trace Git-backed decision histories, and handle rule effective dates over time.
4. **Institutional Scaling:** Apply the identical workflow to complex institutional frameworks, examining a scoped implementation of the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR Rule 2052A).

**Facilitators:** Stephen Goldbaum (DataHub), Attila Mihaly (Morgan Stanley)

**Pre-Workshop Materials:** Attendees are invited to review the detailed proposal and discussion points in the GitHub discussion issue and explore sample models prior to the session.

# WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This workshop is built for both domain experts and technical leaders across financial services and regulated sectors:

- **Quantitative Strategists & Risk Technologists:** Responsible for implementing liquidity models, capital calculations (e.g., LCR 2052A), netting rules, or pricing logic who require strict mathematical determinism over probabilistic guesswork.
- **Enterprise & Data Architects:** Seeking to isolate core business rules from physical data warehouse infrastructure (avoiding proprietary lock-in with Snowflake or Databricks) and establish open, portable logic assets.
- **Compliance Specialists & Policy Analysts:** Who need to ensure statutory policies, regulatory definitions, and internal mandates are faithfully translated into systems without becoming lost in developer translation.
- **AI Leads & Software Engineers:** Interested in moving beyond raw prompt engineering and code generation toward harness engineering, context grounding, and executable intermediate representations like Morphir.

# **What You Will Walk Away With:**

1. **Verifiable Logic Blueprint:** A battle-tested methodology for converting natural-language policy into deterministic, testable, and machine-executable business logic.
2. **Hands-On Morphir Experience:** Practical experience authoring, visualizing, and transpiling FINOS Morphir models into portable runtimes across diverse application environments.
3. **Stepped Financial Implementations:** Working models showing how both simple consumer policies (rate caps) and multi-tier institutional mandates (LCR 2052A) are modeled within an open-source framework.
4. **AI Guardrails & Verification Patterns:** Concrete techniques for safely embedding conversational AI copilots into mission-critical modeling workflows without sacrificing deterministic correctness or auditability.
5. **Vendor-Neutral Portability:** An architectural understanding of how open-source intermediate representations insulate your organization's core business logic from warehouse and cloud platform lock-in.

# **WORKSHOP PREREQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS:**

- **Laptop Required:** You will interact with open-source repositories, test data models, and run interactive modeling workflows.
- **Baseline Knowledge:** Basic familiarity with financial logic (e.g., banking regulations, liquidity risk, or credit rules), data modeling concepts, or general software/scripting workflows. No advanced functional programming experience is required.

# **Logistics & Application**

- **Date:** Tuesday, November 3, 2026
- **Time:** 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST
- **Location:** New York, NY (Venue details provided upon registration)
- **Cost:** Free for registered attendees (Standard Value: $1,000)

**Note:** Seating is strictly limited to ensure a collaborative, hands-on environment. Priority will be given to individuals from FINOS Member financial institutions and regulated industries.
