CDM New Horizons: Welcoming the First Sell-side Maintainer

The Common Domain Model stands as a cornerstone for the financial industry, offering a model for financial products, trades in those products, and the lifecycle events of those trades. It is an open source standard that aligns data, systems and processes and is available as code in multiple languages for easy implementation across technologies. By providing this common framework, the CDM aims to foster transparency, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation across the financial landscape.

Background

Nick Moger brings a wealth of experience to his new role as a CDM maintainer. He is currently an Executive Director at J.P. MorganChase, holding the role of Regulatory Technology Product Director. He is recognized as a strong advocate for the CDM and has played a leading role in driving the adoption of ISDA's Digital Regulatory Reporting (DRR) across a diverse range of asset classes and regulatory jurisdictions. These implementations have already yielded positive outcomes, such as a notable reduction in testing complexity and a significant increase in automation capabilities. His leadership in the realm of DRR adoption shows a firm conviction in the CDM's capacity to address critical industry needs, particularly in a mission-critical part of the banking infrastructure, namely, regulatory reporting.

Maintainer Responsibilities 

The role of a CDM maintainer is fundamental to the continued success and evolution of the project. Maintainers have the responsibility of organizing the activities surrounding the development, maintenance, and updating the CDM. They play a crucial role in determining consensus within the various working groups, approve the merging of proposed changes into the project's repository, and ensure that contributions align with the design principles, overall direction and high-quality standards of the CDM. Beyond these technical responsibilities, maintainers serve as vital points of contact for the broader community, actively fostering its growth and engagement. The presence of experienced individuals like Nick in these maintainer roles significantly bolsters the project's leadership, providing invaluable guidance and direction for its future trajectory.
